      Florida law

Move Over — it protects you too.

Florida's Move Over law requires drivers to move over a lane — or slow to 20 mph below the posted limit when they can't — for stopped emergency vehicles, tow trucks, sanitation and utility vehicles, and, since 2024, disabled vehicles displaying hazard lights or other warnings.

That's one more reason to turn your hazards on the moment you stop. Laws change; check the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles website for current details.
